Haidee Allan is a proud Kamilaroi woman from Tamworth NSW and a Census Communication Officer. She’s reminding everyone to get their Census done as soon as possible.
“We all need to be counted in the Census, so we can see how much our community has grown and what our strengths are.
“You still have time to complete your Census. You can do it online, by paper or with help from us. If you’re in a remote community, there are field staff available to help you complete your Census.
“If you can’t find your letter, that’s OK. You can request a Census number and complete online, or get a paper form sent to you.
“We want all mob to be supported in filling out the Census. There’s so much help available from our staff – face to face, over the phone or online.
“Young mob out there - please help your Elders, Aunties and Uncles fill in the form, so they can get the services our communities need.
“If we don’t hear from you soon, you’ll get a reminder letter or a visit from our field staff.”
The Census is compulsory*. Everyone who was staying in your household on Census night must be included. This includes visitors and babies.
The Census can show community where services are needed, from housing and employment services through to transport and community infrastructure.
“It’s an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to have their voices heard,” Haidee said.
“Help tell our story and complete your Census today.”

Christine Mann

Christine was awarded the role of Executive Director Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health in July 2019 and was previously the Director of Cultural Capability and Engagement.
The Executive Director of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health is a new Executive Management position created to help transform services to improve the health outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Christine is a Woppaburra woman who has spent most of her life living in Mount Isa and holds a Bachelor of Social Work and Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management. Her social work background led to working in several positions in Queensland, interstate and overseas in the area of child protection, the private sector and health. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor, clinical and professional, with the Centre for Rural and Remote Health.

Johnny Murison, a Kuku-Yalanji man from Cape York Peninsula, has immense knowledge of Aboriginal culture. He brings the many fascinating stories of his culture to life through interactive presentations, providing participants with a deeper understanding of First Nations People, whilst encouraging questions and open discussion.
His aim is to enhance students understanding of Indigenous culture and encourage them to reflect on their own unique heritage. These engaging presentations are tailored to be age appropriate to suit Kindy to Year 12 students around Australia.
The Jarramali Cultural Education presentations are available across metro, regional and rural areas. The structure of the presentations with consultation is flexible, adaptable and can be specifically tailored to suit the needs of your students, school, group or curriculum.
Our Aims:
• To engage pre-primary, primary and secondary school students in learning about Indigenous culture across Australia.
• To enhance students understanding of Indigenous culture leaving them knowing they’ve had a vibrant discussion and cultural experience.

Tamara is active in the Indigenous dance community and teaches traditional and hip hop styles to disadvantaged Indigenous children in the protection and foster care system, in regional centres around Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns.
Sacred Creations dance choreographer Tamara Pearson will perform at the Cooktown and Cape York Expo 2021, which this year has a strong reconciliation theme.
Ms Pearson has been working on the contemporary dance in the studio with artists Tahlia Burchill and Miya Healy who represent language groups from the Cairns and Mossman region. The Warrma will be performed on 13 June as part of the free Reconciliation Rocks Music Festival and again on 20 June during the Cooktown Discovery Festival weekend.
